Under the manual handling regulations (Health and Safety at Work Act) employers have a duty to provide manual training to all employees and to review this training periodically. People Handling Refresher

Assisting and Supporting (Level 1 and 2) Refresher

This half day refresher course consists of a review of knowledge, where delegates will refresh behaviours that damage the back, remind themselves on the physiology of the spine and any changes in legislative policy and guidance. Delegates will have the opportunity to share any potential difficulties / issues (whilst always respecting confidentiality) and practice new and existing manoeuvres with and without the use of equipment.  

Assisting and Supporting (Level 3) Refresher

This one day refresher course consists of a review of knowledge, where delegates will refresh behaviours that damage the back, remind themselves on the physiology of the spine and any changes in legislative policy and guidance. Delegates will have the opportunity to share any potential difficulties / issues (whilst always respecting confidentiality) and practice new and existing manoeuvres with and without the use of equipment. Complex case studies will be offered to the delegates who will need to rely upon all their obtained knowledge and skills to resolve them safely.  This course aligns itself to the All Wales passport scheme. 

Promoting Mobility for People with Dementia

This one day refresher course is ideal for care sectors specialising in supporting people with dementia. It incorporates all the elements from Assisting and Supporting refresher Level 1 and 2, then delves further into additional areas that impact upon people with dementia. Environmental aspects, communication, behaviours that challenges services and the importance of touch are all reviewed, demonstrated and practiced alongside general manoeuvres.
